Skin savouirs P.S.

.
So as summer is passing I've decided to take on autumn/winter challenges early. Last winter murdered the skin on my face. It was dry and flaky and generally uhck!! So I've decided that I'm going to begin a nice little ritual of moisturising daily to keep my face alive during the fast approaching cold months. Thus leading me on to todays post taking you through my favourite moisturisers, and maybe a sneaky few secret life savers of mine! If you're good

So I thought I might begin with my Body Shop skin care items. I have four of the body butters. On top is the Body Butter DUO in 'sweet pea' which just smells delightful. It's very floral and sweet as you'd expect but oddly enough it actually smells like sweet peas. I like that genuine scent as I find far too many brands have skin care that just reek of chemicals, so to find something that smells natural might make the remaining chemicals easier to ignore.
I have one other Body Butter DUO in 'Macadamia' which oh my gosh, I bought two. I literally splurged because of this scent. Ok, so I know macadamia is a nut just like myself, haha, but this smells also a little tiny weeny bit like.... Playdough. And I have nothing but love for it. It's a very soft scent as appose to the sweet pea one and I used this more last Autumn. Which is quite handy as I have one for each weather type. The thing with the DUO butters' is that they're very versatile. Instead of being one moisturiser that 'does two jobs' it is in a sectioned pot with one half butter for dry skin and one half butter for normal skin. Giving you the option of the added help on days where you just need a bit more security.
The other two I have are both regular Body Butter single pots for normal skin in the scents 'Blueberry' and 'Passion Fruit'. Both are really nice tasty fruity smells. They look and smell (and feel) like yoghurt. It's an every day struggle not to eat them. Darn chemicals again!
As far as pricing goes they were a little dear. I did get them a while ago now in January, but I believe they cost £13 each. Maybe there was an offer on. There must have been considering I own 5. I'm not crazy much!

Nextly, I have two much cheaper moisturisers thank god.  However I find that they're just as nice to use as the Body Shop butters. Firstly from Tesco is the Unique Boutique Body Créme that smells of Vanilla, Ginger and Pink Pepper. Now I don't know what pink pepper is but I do know that this is the single most beautiful scent in all the world. If I was told I could only smell one thing again it would most definitely be this. I think this was around the £8 - £10 mark around Christmas time and although I use it most out of my whole collection I seem to have most of it remaining. You really don't need a lot of this to go along way, especially if like me you're just concentrating on your face at the moment. It really is quite beautifully packaged as well. Its in a glass jar with a metal lid which when (IF) I run out of this, it will make a nice storage piece. I love this. It contains mango seed oil too which really does rid you of dry skin so super quickly and just leaves your skin feeling perfect. If Tesco have it in next Christmas I will be stocking up. Promise!

Next is the GEMSPA Body Butter in 'Calming Amber'. I've not had a lot of use out of this as of yet unfortunately but I have found it very soothing after using a salt scrub. I pretty much just team this with my Calcot Manor lazy evening gentle salt scrub after a shower. I've not noticed a huge skin repair effect with the GEMSPA butter but it smells great and it only cost about £4 -£6 so you can't lose with it really. It does make a great base for powder foundation too if there's a day I don't feel like going the whole primer, concealer, liquid foundation, hog!
Both very very good buys I think.

And finally, the secret surprises. That may not be that secret as I rant about theses a lot but hey ho here they anyway. Drum roll please...... DUM DUM DUM. T-zone, clear out nose pore strips. Amazing, take all of 5 minutes to do and completely wipe all the nastys out of your nose. I'm 99% sure you can buy theses for your forehead as well and to be honest they're that cheap you'd be silly not to. I got mine for £1 for a 5 pack from B&M Bargains in the UK.
The little red pot I got free in a samples box. It is the 10 total repair revitalift cream from Loreal Paris. I don't use this as a face cream as such, I use it more as an eye cream focusing on my eye lids as I didn't realise until recently how much damage can happen to them through every day life. So to protect them just makes common sense to me. This does sting like a mother if it gets in your eyes though so do be careful. It smells really really nice too but unfortunately I can not comment on its actual purpose because I don't use it in such a way. However it does leave me with soft eye skin which is always a bonus. I have no idea how much this would cost for an actual non sample size. I must find out and get back to you.
And finally, I think I've spoken about this in my old blog. The Along Came BETTY Clearly Perfect skin tone corrector. Oh my life. Words can not explain how much I depend on this. I use this EVERY time I wash my face. Id be lost without it. Basically what this does is alters the pigment in your skin, sounds scarier than it is. It has I think red algae extract in it which reduces blemishes and adds a glow to your skin. This has absolutely worked wonders for me. It's available in Tesco with the rest of the Along Came BETTY (Soap and Glory rip off) items near the cosmetics and it is honestly such a reasonable price you'd be daft not to pick one of these up on your next food shop. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Well, that's all from me for now. Leave comments as feedback on the post or facebook me. I'd love to hear your opinions. Also, comment ideas for me to blog about! I'd be happy to share what I can.
Much love, G.

On A Lighter Note.

I went shopping today. And I treat myself. Which is really unlike me. I never spend money on myself. Honest....
So, as you can see to le left, I didn't exactly splurge, but I did buy three things that I am completely in lust with.
One is a mug (which you can see with the eyes you own, obviously) with a moustache on each side. I have a thing about moustaches as I'm just so hipster and that. You don't really need to know much about the mug, other than it has a handle, and I will be drinking warm beverages out of it. So that's that.
Moving on to more exciting things, the purse. Oh the purse, the purse, the purse. I adore it. Words cannot even describe the love I hold for it. Neon orange, the most beautiful colour in the world, cream insides, and gold embellishments.
I don't think I have ever owned something so pretty. And even better, its practical for me.

The big metal balls, ahem, open to where the coins live in their humble little pouch.
It has cream satin inner lining which I fear
will become just, disgustingly dirty really
quickly. And then there is another popper,
or press stud, opening up to the card holder
and paper money holder. It has room for
roughly 6 cards, which is more than enough
for me.
All in all this purse is perfect. It stinks though
of new plastic. And it is stupidly heavy
considering there isn't really a lot of money left
in it! But still, for £10 you really can't go wrong.
I purchased it from one of those weird little stalls
they have in Crystal Peaks, Sheffield. So there's
a lot of different colours and styles to chose from.
And at those prices I really would head on down
at least for a look. Smashing.

And finally, the mother load of beautiful items that
I couldn't ever live without although I only knew of
its existence today. Ted Baker's 'Ted's sweet treats'
perfume collection. On a casual wonder through Boots,
I stumbled upon these 10ml bottles of smelly. And
after having a whiff of two of them, I wasn't overly
attached, but then lurking at the back, was this guy.
'Kiss me Cate'. Also known as sex in a bottle.
I have honest to God never smelt anything so good in
the twenty years of life I have experienced. The only
way I can describe it without smellyvision, is that it's
spicy and fruity and sweet and girly and amazing and
oh my goodness. I want to bathe in the stuff.
It cost £15 for the 10ml. Which to be honest I thought
was quite a good deal. Considering I also got a advantage
card points offer too. However, this will last about ten
squirts. But I really don't care. At least i'll smell divine
for ten days. And in reality it does indeed last all day.
I've been wearing it for the past 11 hours anyway and it
has just not faded in the slightest. Go to boots, and buy
this. I genuinely believe you will die if you don't.

Love, G x

SPOILERS

Hey. How goes it?
So I decided to start a new blog. There's a few reasons behind why I stopped writing my old one so quickly and I feel as though I owe an explanation to anyone who (god forbid) used to read my old one. So here it is.

  • Firstly, my job quickly affected my reliability of writing in my old blog. Having non-set work shifts meant I couldn't promise a new blog on a certain day. It also meant some weeks I couldn't find anything to write about, having had no time to think about anything other than the price of smoked haddock fillets.
  • Secondly, about half way through my old blog posts on 'life through light eyes', some really dramatic stuff happened in my life, which I wont go in to, but basically some stupid decisions made me lose some really important people whom I still owe apologies to. Also some things happened that were/are inevitable to happen, no matter how desperate we don't want them to.
  • Also, I started losing passion with the blog. I didn't know what to write about most days so I just didn't bother. I was worried about what people were saying about my blog that I didn't know about and that really did affect me then, which is silly because I never had any bad feedback about it.
  • And finally, my whole frame of mind over every single thing in my life, not just my old blog, was completely out of whack those few months ago. When everything comes falling on top of us for whatever reasons and fault regardless, I believe how we handle those definite moments really does make or break us. I'm happy to say, those moments made me and now I feel about 5000% better and eased about writing a new blog.

    So, spoilers..
To come with White Metal Owls (so named for my love of white metal, and owls - creative, I know) will be a world of excitement and thrill!
No. Not really. It'll just be an insecure young adult trying to put something she is passionate about into the world. And if anyone is genuinely interested in what I think of beauty and materialistic things then that is superb. If this blog bring any shred of help or advice or even a laugh or two, to just one single person then trust me, it will be well worth it.
Although, I'm making no promises on writing daily this time. I'll show up as and when I can, k??

    Love. G x
